Will the Florida court consider high living expenses such as loan payments and income taxes, when determining my ability to pay child support?
I get that question a lot. Basically, the child support guidelines don’t include a provision for high expenses. So if your expenses are high, that in itself is not going to change the amount of child support you would pay. However, the court can consider special requests to reduce child support below the guidelines. I wouldn’t count on that. And if you are going to have to pay child support, it’s best to keep your living expenses and your loan payments and things like that in check.
