Divorce or dissolution of a marriage

Dissolution of a marriage—or divorce—occurs when a marriage is legally terminated.  Dissolution actions can be uncontested or contested.  In uncontested cases, the parties agree to all terms of the dissolution of their marriage, including distribution of assets and liabilities, the establishment of a parenting plan and time-sharing, child support, and alimony.  In contested cases, there are issues between the parties that cannot be settled.  Contested cases can require extensive financial discovery, the involvement of expert witnesses, depositions, and child custody evaluations.  Rebecca Graham can advise you on your legal options, provide experienced guidance, and protect your rights, whether your divorce is uncontested or contested.

Distribution of property and assets

Rebecca Graham is experienced in dividing marital assets.  The distribution of marital property and separate property as a result of a divorce is called equitable distribution.  A variety of personal and financial factors are taken into consideration before marital property is distributed between spouses.  Sometimes these matters can be quite complex and Rebecca Graham can advise you.

Domestic violence

Being married, divorced, or in a relationship does not entitle you to hit, threaten, or abuse those at home or to have to be a victim of this behavior.  Domestic violence crimes are most often against women but can also involve child abuse and neglect, spousal abuse, or domestic-partner abuse, and elder abuse.  It includes physical abuse, threats, emotional abuse, harassment, stalking, and trying to control someone else’s behavior.  If you are a victim of domestic violence, Rebecca Graham can help you.
